Dojo Rules and Regulations

Sil Jeon Do is always striving to provide quality mixed martial arts training. In order to achieve this, we are continuously making sure the rules and regulations are reviewed periodically. These rules and regulations are created keepingin mind your and other students safety and overall character development and thus the implementation of these rules is NOT optional but REQUIRED to be followed diligently.

1. Bow upon entering and exiting matt area.
2. Bow when greeting and taking leave of Grand Master Chang and instructors.
3. Address the Grand Master, all instructors and senior students by Sir, Ma’am.
4. When greeting a student you must bow.
5. Shaking hands, place the palm of the left hand on the right forearm near the elbow in the traditional fashion and bow.
6. Tobacco use and chewing gum are not permitted in the school.
7. Drug and alcohol abuse are not tolerated. Come to class clean and sober.
8. Uniforms are to be kept neat and clean.
9. Shoes are removed before entering mat area.
10. Jewelry is not to be worn during practice, with the exception of a wedding band and/or religious belief.
11. Profanity in the school is strictly prohibited.
12. Students must give advance notice to the Master if they are going to be late for the class or must leave early.
13. Talking while class in session is to be kept to a minimum both on and off the mat.
14. There are two proper positions for sitting when on the mat, “Indian style” with legs crossed or a formal kneeling position.
15. Students will not correct, challenge or give advice to a senior student unless asked for. If and when in doubt about of an execution of a technique, student must ask the Master or the instructor.
16. Senior students will not abuse their rank or take undue advantage of any authority invested in them.
17. Secure your valuables. It is recommended that you leave your valuable items in your car, home.
18. Office is off limits to students and their family members.
19. Unless otherwise directed, the complete uniform will not be worn outside of the school. Remove uniform top and belt upon leaving.
20. Student(s) must ask Grand Master Chang’s permission for a drink of water.
21. NO PROPER NECESSARY SPARRING EQUIPMENT………NO SPARRING. INADEQUATE EQUIPMENT CAN RESULT IN INJURY TO THE STUDENT AND SPARRING PARTNER.
22. NO INSTRUCTOR………NO SPARRING
23. ONLY GREEN BELT AND HIGHER ARE ALLOWED TO SPARR.
24. SIL JEON DO MARTIAL ARTS DOJO IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY DURING SPARRING AND/OR SESSION.
25. STUDENTS MUST OBEY THE GRAND MASTER AND/OR INSTRUCTOR(S) AT ALL TIMES.
26. STUDENTS MUST MAINTAIN PROPER DECORUM AT ALL TIMES.
